Referrals

All referrals for general surgery and orthopaedic surgery must be made from your general practitioner (GP) to the Department of Health’s Central Referral Service (external site) or to one of the private  Armadale Health Service - Contracted Medical Practitioners who undertake surgery at Armadale Health Service.

To find out approximate wait times for outpatient review you can liaise with the relevant clinic – please refer to the clinic directory.

Preparing for surgery

All patients booked for elective surgery will be assessed by a nurse in the Pre-admission Clinic prior to surgery. This allows us to identify any risk factors before your surgery and ensure that we can minimise the risk of any complications during or following your procedure.

We may also arrange for you to see an anaesthetist before your operation if necessary.

For more information about your preadmission appointment please refer to Armadale Health Service - Pre-admission Clinic.
