Community Rehabilitation service wins excellence award

October 27, 2014

Armadale Health Service Community Rehabilitation (CR) Service team has been named the inaugural winner of the 2014 Rotary Allied Health Excellence Team of the Year Award.

CR Manager Shareenah Virahsawmy congratulated and paid tribute to the team, who also took out the award for Excellence in Innovative Practice.

“These awards recognised the team’s outstanding contribution to innovation in delivering services more effectively through an inter-professional approach,” Shareenah said.

“Our multi-disciplinary team, which includes staff from 10 different professions, has been focussed on working together with patients to achieve common, patient-centred rehabilitation goals.

“This has led to improved patient outcomes, reduced waiting times and a high level of patient satisfaction.”

CR consolidates and builds on existing services such as day therapy units, Falls Specialist Service, Parkinson’s Disease Service, stroke, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation.

New CR programs will begin at Bentley and Rockingham at the beginning of 2015, with Fremantle commencing later in the year.
