Aboriginal mothers benefit from donation

December 16, 2015

A donation of baby items from a Perth church is helping Armadale Health Service’s Boodjari Yorgas Family Care Program provide greater support to Aboriginal mothers and their babies.

Aboriginal Health Officer Christine Parry thanked the pastors and members of Kingdom Light church for their generous donation.

“These items will help many Aboriginal families accessing the program who are experiencing difficult circumstances,” Christine said.

“It will also assist our grandmother liaisons to provide practical support for young mothers.”

A total of 35 bags containing baby supplies such as nappies, wipes, clothes, linen and toys were collected and donated.

The Boodjari Yorgas program provides holistic and culturally appropriate maternity and postnatal care services for Aboriginal mothers. Services include home visits, practical assistance to access antenatal care in hospital, support during labour and on the postnatal ward.
